Major research topics

  • Environmental engineering (sites selection for landfilling and landfills design; MSW systems assessment and design; life cycle analysis studies).
  • Materials recycling and recovering, in particular metals from metallic bearing wastes, and others (leather scrap, fly ashes, steelmaking dusts, healthcare wastes and other wastes, including industrial and hazardous wastes).
  • Biocombustibles, particularly biodiesel. Wastewater treatment, namely metal-bearing waste streams.
  • Extractive metallurgy (precious metals metallurgy; hydrometallurgy).
